RCS Pre-School - Ages 2-5

The Pre-School assures that every child receives individual care and attention, and the support of a keyperson. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage that leads your child towards approved learning goals targeted at 0 to 5 years. The activities are tailored to suit the needs and interests of each individual child allowing your child to develop at their own pace. For parent and carers, the Pre-School provides a welcoming atmosphere where you will feel assured that your child is receiving the best possible care.

Our last 3 Ofsted inspections, the latest one was January 2016, graded our service as ‘outstanding’, in all respects. Here are a few quotes from our January 2016 report.

“Children are extremely polite and behave exceptionally well. Children know what is expected of them. There are clear rules and boundaries in place.”

“The quality of learning opportunities is exemplary. The staff use inspirational ways to support the excellent development of children’s communication and speaking skills.”

Our Keyworkers maintain regular contact with parents concerning their individual child’s development and progress. We promote partnerships with parents, developing a working relationship between them and their child’s keyworker.

Parents and Carers
Because we recognise that parents and carers are the first and most important educators of their children, we encourage parents to meet with their child’s key person and have an active role in completing their child’s Learning Journey.

There are always opportunities for parents and carers to become involved, by either offering help during sessions, attending the parent forum or joining the Board of Trustees.

Learning through Play
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework which supports the learning, development and care for children aged from 0-5 years. Our experience tells us that children learn best through play-based activities and their own interests.

The EYFS comprises of 3 prime areas:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

And 4 specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Our keyworker system enables us to ensure that each child develops at their own pace with the support and guidance that they need.
