RCS Pre-School - Ages 2-5

The Pre-School assures that every child receives individual care and attention, and the support of a keyperson. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage that leads your child towards approved learning goals targeted at 0 to 5 years. The activities are tailored to suit the needs and interests of each individual child allowing your child to develop at their own pace. For parent and carers, the Pre-School provides a welcoming atmosphere where you will feel assured that your child is receiving the best possible care.

Ofsted
Our last 3 Ofsted inspections, the latest one was November 2019, graded our service as ‘outstanding’, in all respects. Here are a few quotes from that report:

“Children are incredibly confident and happy at the extremely safe and secure setting. All children are enthralled by their amazingly motivating learning experiences.”

All staff establish incredibly secure and trusting relationships with children. They get to know children’s individual personalities, routines and interests extremely well. All children have outstanding well-being, self-motivation and an exceptionally good sense of belonging.”

“All children make outstanding progress and exceed their learning opportunities.”

Keyworkers
Our Keyworkers maintain regular contact with parents concerning their individual child’s development and progress. We promote partnerships with parents, developing a working relationship between them and their child’s keyworker.

Parents and Carers
Because we recognise that parents and carers are the first and most important educators of their children, we encourage parents to meet with their child’s key person and have an active role in completing their child’s Learning Journey.

There are always opportunities for parents and carers to become involved, by spending time with us for Stay and Play sessions or joining the Board of Trustees.

Learning through Play
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework which supports the learning, development and care for children aged from 0-5 years. Our experience tells us that children learn best through play-based activities and their own interests.

The EYFS comprises of 3 prime areas:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

And 4 specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Our keyworker system enables us to ensure that each child develops at their own pace with the support and guidance that they need.
